County Sligo is in the northwest of Ireland. County Sligo is the former home of turn-of-the-century poet W.B. Yeats, and where he is buried. Yeats memorialized the country through much of early poetry, calling it the “Land of Heart’s Desire.” One of Yeats favorite landmarks was Ben Bulben, a unique flattop mountain that looms over the flat Sligo countryside.
