How Do You Know It's Real?

November is "Real Jewelry Month" and we love to celebrate because we know there is a real difference in real Irish jewelry.

Biddy Murphy takes the risk out of buying jewelry online.

We understand that you may have been duped before or you’ve heard stories about other people who have had a poor experience buying online. Rest assured that you don’t have to be worried about buying jewelry online from Biddy Murphy.

First of all, you never need to be concerned about the quality of the metal that goes into Irish-made jewelry because each piece of fine jewelry is hallmark stamped at the Assay Office located in the famed Dublin Castle in Dublin, Ireland.

The Assay Office acts as the "consumer protection agency" for jewelry. Each piece is tested against the metal purity standards and is marked with a stamp showing that the piece is, in fact, the metal it claims to be. For instance, 925 is the standard designation for sterling silver. All Irish-made, sterling silver or gold pieces must be inspected before receiving the specific mark of authenticity - it's the law! All of our fine maker-partners send each piece of their jewelry to Dublin Castle for inspection and Hallmarking before it is sent to the States and delivered to our customers.

Although they are small, each piece of fine Irish jewelry bears the following stamps: 1) Makers mark - which signifies who crafted the piece. 2) Hibernia - the official stamp showing that it was made in Ireland. 3) Metal purity - designating which type of metal was used. Learn more about Hallmarking here.

In addition to the hallmarking process, Biddy Murphy offers customers an added layer of protection with our “Delight or Make it Right” Guarantee. You will be delighted with your purchase or we will make it right with a FREE Exchange or FREE Return - in addition to our FREE Shipping. It’s our way of taking all of the risk out of your purchase experience.

We want you to have peace of mind when purchasing fine jewelry from Biddy Murphy.

And remember, you don’t have to be Irish to have good taste! Our authentic Irish jewelry is high quality and each piece has symbolic meaning, so whether you want to show your loyalty with the Claddagh, your undying love with a Trinity Knot, keep someone safe with the St. Brigid’s Cross or send someone a little luck with the Shamrock - we have real, quality jewelry that you will be proud to give or wear yourself.

We hope that you feel confident purchasing from our small, family owned business. Please share your favorite Irish jewelry with us on our Facebook page or drop me a line at ward@biddymurphy.com.

Slán go fóill - Bye for now
