A Hole in One! Golfing on the Greens of Ireland

Royal County Down Golf Club

Ordinarily, you know it's too wet to play golf when your cart capsizes, but not in Ireland ! Ireland is home to some of the best golf courses in the world. In fact, the Royal County Down Golf Course is ranked as the number one golf course in the world by 'Golf Digest'. Located in Newcastle on the Down coast, the RCD boasts spectacular views, two 18-hole courses, the Championship course and the Annesley Links. The RCD is 127 years old and regularly hosts international competitions such as the Senior British Open, the Curtis Cup, Walker Cup and the Irish Open. But be warned, the Royal County Down is in high demand so expect to book your day on the courses months in advance, maybe even a year!

Grab your irons and golf shoes, we’re off to the second best course in Ireland: Portrush (Dunluce), Co.Antrim. The Club hosts various championships including the future Open Championship 2019. It is situated on the Antrim coast and includes two links, the Dunluce Links and the Valley Links. Beautiful views for all who venture up north to this course. It currently resides at number 12 on the list of the World’s Best Golf Courses. Portrush is very close to the Giant’s Causeway with plenty of sights to see. Both of these courses are not too far from Belfast should you feel like doing a spot of shopping or touring around! There’s so much to do in the area!

But remember, although they are beautiful, these spots can be very cold. It’s best to wrap up warm and be well prepared for your trip. I recommend bringing along a warm hat and jumper (sweater) at the very least! Why not check out our 100% Irish Wool Turtlenecks. They’re so soft and made from the highest quality Irish wool. They’ll last a lifetime! Our Hanna Caps are currently reduced to $49.95! They’re made in Ireland using 100% Irish tweed. Very durable and comfortable, they come in a range of sizes to give you the authentic Irish look on your Irish adventure! We also have a range of Irish Walking Sticks that will keep you upright against the sometimes harsh sea winds. So grab your golf clubs and get going! Check out BiddyMurphy.com for more! Whether you’re playing for the fun of it or even practicing for the PGA Tour, Ireland is a key destination for all you golfers out there. And remember, should you decide to go to Ireland, you can always call or email us for advice or information! We’d only be too delighted to help!

Ádh mór ort! - (Good Luck!)
