Better than a baseball bat.

Beautifully crafted from a natural Blackthorn branch. Seems plenty sturdy to help on walks where my balance is not as centered as it once was. They have carefully removed the thorns so it is not dangerous to hold.

Perfect! Exactly as advertised and just what I was looking for!

This was pretty expensive for what I received. I used to have an authentic sheleighly that my father brought back from Ireland but it was stolen. I was hoping this would be a replacement but it just feels like a cheap imitation. It lacks the weight and heft of the shillelagh I held growing up. It almost feels hollow. Just disappointing for how expensive it was.

I’m extremely disappointed!! This wooden cane looks as if it was hastily chopped out of a 2x4! The handle is not tilted towards the user. The thorns are cut off. The finish is rough. White paint is showing through the black finish. I had dreamed of having a true shilleligh that I could be proud to use on a daily basis and this is embarrassing.

The shillelagh looks great. Very sturdy. I love the feel of the burl handle in my hand. I had to buy a rubber tip to prevent it from slipping on hardwood flooring.

Sturdy, natural with a nice grip. I had to buy a rubber tip for the bottom but it is a great purchase

The stick looks nice and is very sturdy, but it doesn't have the classic ball on top, so that makes it difficult to use. I'm trying to get this exchanged for a different stick, but have not heard back from customer service yet. 😒

My mom loves it but less than a month later there's a split. I emailed customer service and never got a response.

I love my Walking stick. I have wanted to get one for awhile. I will cherish it. I may take it with me on my next trip to Ireland!

The one I received was heavier and thicker than the one shown. It did not have any thorns visible so in essence it was disappointing especially as it was expensive. Disappointing.

It is perfectly good looking and sturdy. It is balanced and a joy to use. Love it.

This walking stick is perfect for me. I absolutely love it. I intend to own two soon. I also have a newsboy cap received as a gift. It has the Biddy Murphy logo inside.

I have to say, I do like the cane. I like the looks, the feel and the heft. However, I am more than a little disappointed that it did not come with a rubber tip. Some how a very small banded metal tip does not strike me as safe nor is it conducive to preventing damage to floors. Yes, rubber tips are rather inexpensive and I did try a couple and was finally able to rig one that seems work. My question is, why is it up to me, the customer, to try and make this right. And yes, I did try conveying these concerns by using the “contract us,” e mail address on the website. Needless to say, the response was overwhelming in its silence!

My wife had a need to replace a shillelagh she had from a local maker, so we looked into getting one from a professional maker and she’s very pleased with the size, weight, and appearance of this one from Biddy Murphy. May she not need to have this one replaced any time soon

Knob is a little smaller than expected, tip could have been better.

I’ve been disabled and walking with a stick or walker for three years now. I’ve also wanted one of these beautiful sticks to show my heritage but it’s hard to do on Disability income(I worked as a Paramedic for 32yrs). I love my new stick but I have two problems that I will fix. The first problem is when I place my hand on the top of the stick to grab it, it wasn’t sanded down good on each side before it was clear coated. It will rub my thumb and inside my hand. Someone would have felt this and should have fixed it before they clear coated it. The second problem is there is a briar on the stick where my little finger goes. It will run as well. I understand the stick being made in nature but what about trying to use it? I think someone should have tried to before it left Ireland. I guess I just expected better. I’m sorry.

So happy to have received this quickly and in such lovely condition -- can't wait to take it hiking. I've never regretted a purchase from Biddy Murphy and I won't start today!
