I just returned from my trip to Ireland! Check out the first part of my trip here, and enjoy even more of my trip on the western coast of Ireland by reading on! As you drive along the N-59 or The Road to Clifden as the locals call it; the Lough Inagh and Maam Valley are off to your right side by side. The scenery is breathtaking in its beauty. Kirsten Fedorowicz studied abroad in Ireland in January-May 2017. She now works as a Content Writer for Biddy Murphy. When I arrived in Ireland for my study abroad tenure, I was surprised to see two languages appear on all of the street signs. As we road on our bus through western Ireland on that first day, I noticed how different the street signs were from my native Michigan. On each sign we passed, the English name for something- a town, the airport, the nearest exit- appeared below another language, which I soon learned was Irish.... A language I didn’t know...

Last year, on the 16th of July, I bid a teary farewell to my parents in Dublin airport and embarked on the biggest adventure of my life so far. With two suitcases (the size of small cars), I walked through security and onto a plane that would take me to my new life. Dia Duit arís! (hello again) I’m sure many of you know about the troubles that took place 40 years ago in Northern Ireland between the Catholics and Protestants that resulted in many lives lost and ruined. Seeing imagery and videos through the news inspired two Irish immigrants to take action and help out those children caught in the cross fire.
